Kevin Brooks' "More 'Seriously Visible' Reading: McCloud, McLuhan, and the Visual Language of The Medium is the Massage" appeared online as part of a hybrid print-electronic CCC issues.


Conference Presentations

Dr. Totten Presents at International Colloquium on Travel Writing (11/04/2009)

Gary Totten was invited to give a paper at an International Colloquium on travel writing, October 16-18, 2009 in Vienna, Austria. The colloquium, "Riding/Writing Across Borders in North American Travelogues and Fiction," was organized by Waldemar Zacharasiewicz of the Department of English and American Studies at the University of Vienna. Totten's paper, "Geographies of Race and Mobility in Carl Rowan's SOUTH OF FREEDOM," examines the representation of identity, mobility, and geographical space in African American travel narratives. The papers from the colloquium will be published as a book in 2010.

St. Cloud State University is hosting the annual GPACW conference; graduate and undergraduate students as well as faculty from NDSU will be presenting.

Rebecca Oster and Miriam Mara are traveling to Carbondale, Illinois, to present their papers in the "Irish Women's Bodies: Irish Women's World" Panel at the 2009 Midwest Regional American Conference for Irish Studies.

Dale Sullivan, Bruce Maylath, Andy Mara, and Miriam Mara presented at the Council of Programs in Scientific and Technical Communication's annual conference, held in Aarhus Denmark. See page 4 of It's Happening at State.
