HAL AND ALICE DICKEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship given annually to an undergraduate majoring in
English with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Financial need is a
consideration.
PROFESSOR RALPH ENGEL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship given annually to a student majoring in English who
has completed at least 32 credits at NDSU. Academic achievement is
the primary consideration.
MADELINE S. GITTINGS SCHOLARSHIPS: Undergraduate and Graduate
Students.
The English Department awards three Gittings scholarships each year
from the Madeline S. Gittings Endowed Scholarship Fund. One of
these scholarships is awarded to an incoming first-year student in
the undergraduate English major, one to a continuing student in the
major, and one to a graduate student in English. The primary
criterion for the first scholarship is financial need; the criteria
for awarding other two scholarships are financial need and
exemplary progress toward degree completion.
MARJORY ARCHER HAGGART MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship given biennially to a sophomore or junior majoring in
English.
GERALD WILSON HUNTER AND PHYLLIS KRANTZ HUNTER SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship given annually to a student majoring in English who
has completed at least 32 credits at NDSU. Academic achievement is
the primary consideration. Preference given to older-than-average
students.
ROONEY SCHOLARSHIP: Graduate Students
A scholarship awarded to a graduate student in English. Academic
achievement and perseverance in the pursuit of a degree are equal
considerations.
MART AND LOIS VOGEL AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE
One or two scholarships given annually to upperclassmen majoring in
English. Academic achievement is the primary consideration.
