I was raised on the prairie of western Minnesota and learned to
walk
in 50 mph winds. To this day I am extremely hard to knock over.
I
received my MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University in
St.
Paul, specializing in fiction and playwriting. Currently, I am
a
writer and performer for the Electric Arc Radio Show, an
hour-long
radio "sitcom" about four dysfunctional writers living together in
a
fictional Minneapolis neighborhood. The show, which includes
musical
guests and a house band, is performed live at the Theater at
the
Woman's Club of Minneapolis and will be broadcast on Minnesota
Public
Radio's 89.3 the Current starting in January of 2008. For

information, visit electricarcradio.com.
I am teaching English 110 this semester and am interested in
helping
students discover what it is they have to say and a voice of their
own
in which to say it. I attempt to design classes that provide
opportunities for discovery of the self through critical
engagement
with the many worlds encountered by the self.
Let's figure out who we are by discovering how and what we think
about
popular culture, our friends and family, and so on. My
teaching
interests also include creative writing (fiction and drama),
the
creative process and humor.
