I am currently a lecturer in English at NDSU teaching College Composition and Business Writing while I pursue a Ph.D.in English literature at the Univeristy of North Dakota. I received my M.A. in English literature in 2008 from NDSU and my B.A. in English writing and French in 1993 from Concordia College in Moorhead. After earning my B.A., I spent several years working, most of them at a software mapping company concentrating on technical writing among other tasks. I left the corporate world to return to the university to teach and learn.

My research interests include travel writing, late nineteenth and early twentieth century American literture, language and gender, gender studies and feminist theory. At NDSU, I have previously taught English 110 and English 120. Teaching these classes, I feel privileged to be one of the first instructors that students encounter in their programs of study. I enjoy seeing students gain confidence in their abilities and become comfortable with writing through the course of a semester.

When not teaching and learning, I read for pleasure (my summer fun reading list included Moby Dick, The Grapes of Wrath, and a little Janet Evanovich thrown in for good measure), ride bike, think of ways to be more environmentally friendly, and spend time with my three-year-old daughter, two dogs and two turtles.
