Howdy! I am a third year graduate student studying for my Master's degree in English with a
concentration in literature. My scholarly interests range deep and wide, but in particular my Master's
paper focuses on contemporary Native American literature, specifically the novels of Thomas King.
Other notable interests include 19th c American Literature, Mark Twain, war poetry, and stand-up comedy
(I, however, am not very funny).
As a graduate instructor, I am currently teaching English 261, American Literature I. This course
spans from pre-colonial America to 1865. I will be teaching this course in the spring of 2008 as well,
so please feel free to e-mail to request a sample syllabus. In addition to this, I also teach writing
as a graduate tutor in the Center for Writers. In the past, I have taught multiple sections of English
110 and 120.
The 2007-2008 school year marks my third year as a co-chair for the Red River Graduate Student
Conference, which is held each spring at NDSU for graduate students in the field of English throughout
the region. I am also a member of the First-year English Committee.
I received my Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in writing in 2004 from Minnesota State
University Moorhead. I have also studied English at the University of North Dakota.
