NDSU hired me in 2001 and I've been teaching a wide range of English and gender studies classes since then. I have BA degrees in literature and art history, an MA in creative writing, and a PhD in Rhetoric and Professional Communication with a specialization in architectural history, theory, and criticism from Iowa State University (2001).

Recently, I have been trying to learn more about anime and manga, and have been undertaking research specifically on Full Metal Alchemist (FMA) and theories of the post-human. A related fun project examines the figuration of bodies and physical disability in FMA "fangirl" AMVs. In addition, I have a long time research interest in architecture and culture and am writing about Adorno's notion of the culture industry and that concept's relation to contemporary publishing on Frank Lloyd Wright.

In Fall 2008, I am teaching Non-Fiction Prose (389) and focusing on contemporary memoir and autobiography of girlhood. I'm also teaching Language Bias (454/654), a class that looks at the intersections of language, power, gender and sexuality. My final course is the Advanced Writing Workshop (458).
