NDSU hired me in 2001 and I've been teaching a wide range of English and gender studies classes since then. I have BA degrees in literature and art history, an MA in creative writing, and a PhD in Rhetoric and Professional Communication with a specialization in architectural history, theory, and criticism from Iowa State University (2001).

Recently, I have been trying to learn more about anime and manga, and have been undertaking research specifically on Full Metal Alchemist (FMA) and theories of the post-human. A related project examines Japanese girl's (shojo) comics and transgressive sexuality. In addition, I have a long time research interest in architecture and culture and am writing about Adorno's notion of the culture industry and that concept's relation to contemporary publishing on Frank Lloyd Wright.

In the spring of 2009, I will not be teaching so that I can actively participate in the administration of NDSU's recently awarded NSF ADVANCE grant for Institutional Transformation. This grants funds programs to aid the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women faculty on our campus.
